Destello is afraid of the dark

When the lights went out and everything turned dark, dark, Destello, the little star, felt a little scared.

She shone so brightly she couldn't sleep, and she'd start to tremble: plink, plink, plink.

Lua, the moon, came over slowly and asked: «What's wrong, Destello?».

«It's just… the dark… scares me a little», whispered Destello.

Lua took her by the tip and said: «Come, I'll show you a secret of the night».

«The dark isn't bad», said Lua. «It's like a soft blanket that tucks in the world so we can all dream».

And, little by little, beautiful things began to appear in the dark.

The fireflies lit up, like tiny lanterns: blink… blink….

By the river, a little frog sang very softly: ribbit… ribbit….

«See?», smiled Lua. «The night is full of quiet friends». And Destello began to feel better.

Destello took a deep breath and, instead of shining hard, she shone softly, like a little night-light.

She wasn't trembling anymore. The dark felt warm and cozy.

She snuggled up to Lua and, without realizing, fell asleep. «Good night, Destello», whispered Lua.
