Destello and the shooting star

One calm night, Destello was playing happily in the sky.

Suddenly, whoosh!, a shooting star zoomed past at full speed, leaving a tail of light.

«Hello, byyye!», cried the shooting star, already far away. «I'm in a hurry, a hurry, a huuurry!».

The shooting star raced here and there without ever stopping.

She went so fast she saw nothing: not the moon, not the sea, not the other stars.

«Ugh… I'm dizzy and tired», she sighed. «But I don't know how to go slow…».

Destello came closer and said softly: «What if we stop for a little while?».

They stayed still, together. «Look at the moon on the water… listen to the sea… swish, swish».

The shooting star really looked, without rushing, and opened her eyes wide: «Oh… how beautiful everything is!».

That night they learned to fly slowly, side by side.

And the shooting star discovered something wonderful: the beauty isn't in arriving fast, but in enjoying the journey.

«Thank you, Destello», she said. «Today I went slowly… and it's been the most beautiful night».
