The Snow Queen

Hans Christian Andersen

🔊 Device voice

Gerda and Kay were two inseparable friends who played together every day. But one winter, a tiny shard of magic ice entered Kay's heart and turned him cold and distant.

One day, the Snow Queen carried Kay away in her sleigh to her ice palace, far, far away in the frozen north.

Brave Gerda decided to go and find him. She crossed forests and rivers, and along the way kind animals and people helped her.

When she reached the palace, Gerda hugged Kay and cried warm tears. With that love, the ice in his heart melted.

Kay smiled again and, together once more, they walked home hand in hand. A friend's love had beaten the greatest cold.

…and they all lived happily ever after. 🌙
