Little Thumb

Little Thumb was the youngest of seven brothers, so small he fit in the palm of a hand. But he was the brightest and most alert of all.

One afternoon, the brothers got lost in the forest. Luckily, Little Thumb had been leaving a trail of pebbles, and so he guided them back home.

Another day they came, by accident, to the house of a huge ogre who slept with magic seven-league boots, able to take enormous strides.

Very carefully, without waking him, Little Thumb borrowed the boots. They were so big that with a single step he crossed mountains!

Thanks to them, he carried messages to faraway places, earned some coins and returned to his family, who never went hungry again.

And so, the very smallest became the bravest of all.
