The Lion and the Mouse

A lion was sleeping in the shade of a tree when a little mouse scurried across his mane and woke him.

The lion caught him with one swipe, angry. «Please, forgive me!» squeaked the mouse. «One day I'll find a way to return the favor». The lion laughed at the idea, but let him go.

Some time later, the lion fell into a hunters' net. No matter how he roared and struggled, he couldn't get free.

The little mouse heard his roars and came running. With his sharp teeth, he gnawed the ropes one by one until the lion was free.

«You see?» said the mouse. «Even the small ones can help the great». And from that day on they were good friends.
