The Ant and the Grasshopper

Aesop's fable

🔊 Device voice

During the summer, a grasshopper sang happily in the shade of the trees, enjoying the sun and the breeze without a care.

Nearby, an ant worked tirelessly, carrying grains to her anthill to store food.

«Why do you work so hard in such fine weather?», asked the grasshopper. «I'm saving for winter», replied the ant. The grasshopper laughed and kept on singing.

The months passed and the cold arrived. The fields lay empty, and the hungry grasshopper could find nothing to eat.

He remembered the ant and went to ask for help. The ant, generous, shared her food, but kindly reminded him how important it is to prepare in time.

…and they all lived happily ever after. 🌙
