The Hen That Laid the Golden Eggs
Aesop's fable
🔊 Device voice
A farmer had a very special hen: every morning she laid a shining golden egg. With them, little by little, the family lived better and better.
But the farmer thought one egg a day was too little. «If she lays gold inside», he thought, «she must be full of gold».
Impatient and greedy, he wanted it all at once instead of waiting each day for his egg.
Searching for that imaginary treasure, he lost his hen and the eggs that had made them so happy.
Then he understood, sadly, that he had lost what truly mattered by wanting more than his share.
…and they all lived happily ever after. 🌙
