The Town Musicians of Bremen

An old donkey, tired of working, decided to set off for the city of Bremen to become a musician. Along the way he met a dog, a cat and a rooster, all also old and homeless.

«Come with me!» said the donkey. «Together we'll form a band and no one will turn us away». The four went on their way singing, dreaming of their new life.

As night fell, they saw a little lit-up house in the forest. Peeking in, they found some robbers having dinner around a big table.

The animals came up with a plan. They climbed on top of one another (the dog on the donkey, the cat on the dog and the rooster right on top) and all together they let out their greatest concert: brays, barks, meows and crows.

The robbers, frightened by that tremendous noise, fled, believing it was a monster. The four friends went in, dined happily and stayed to live in the little house.

They were so happy together that they never reached Bremen, but they found something better: a home and friends forever.
